MBPFW - Day 1

The opening night of Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week was held under the patronage of VOGUE Czechoslovakia. The runway showcased two powerful forces in both Czech and global fashion—Tomáš Němec and the brand - a striking collision of intimate expression and bold vision.

Tomáš Němec

As we arrived, we were welcomed by a scene bathed in crimson light. From the very first moment, it was clear, this was going to be hot. Last night, Tomáš Němec transported us straight to 1980s Miami, and he didn’t miss a beat. A flawless playlist, palm leaves overhead, a stage pulsing with disco beats, sexy, sultry energy radiated from every corner.

The corset, a hallmark of Němec’s work, continues to shape the female silhouette, but this time with less of his usual dark romanticism. There’s a playful spirit running through the collection, a new chapter unfolding. Leopard print, black velvet, sequins, and vibrant neons intertwine effortlessly throughout the looks.

The models' wigs unmistakably echoed Julia Roberts’ iconic hair in Pretty Woman, while cobalt-blue mini dresses conjured up scenes straight from the film. Whether intentional or not, I couldn’t help but imagine Vivian dressed in Tomáš Němec - I'd absolutely stop the car for her.

P.S. I’ve had Smalltown Boy on repeat ever since.

Litkovska

Lilia Litkovskaya brought her latest FW25 collection titled “3 a.m. – traverse” to Prague, following its debut at Paris Fashion Week. The collection is a fashion meditation on resilience and transformation - inspired by her ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro alongside Ukrainian soldiers with amputated limbs.

Each look carries Litkovska’s signature aesthetic. Deconstructed silhouettes break down and reassemble classic forms; masculine lines are softened by light textures and delicate layering that reveals new shapes in motion. Though the collection remains within a palette of grey, black, and white, it manages to speak to both minimalist and eclectic sensibilities.

Through her collections, the designer tells powerful stories. This time, it’s about how even in silence and pain, a new beginning can be found.
