Cosmentology
What do luxury cars and top-tier skincare have in common? Perhaps more than you’d expect. Eliška Maršálková made the transition from Ferrari to her own beauty studio - Cosmentology - creating a concept unparalleled in the Czech Republic. Premium skincare, an innovative approach, and a space designed entirely for relaxation. How did her vision become a reality?
Your salon is located in a unique designer container – what inspired you to choose such an unconventional space for a beauty studio?
I love originality and doing things differently. Initially, I had a rental space in mind, but when that fell through, I knew I no longer wanted to be in the heart of Prague. I wanted to bring premium skincare outside of the capital so that people wouldn’t have to commute for high-quality services.
We had an unused plot of land, and container architecture has become an increasingly popular global trend. I won’t lie—when I decided to go for it, I had some doubts. I worried that people might find it strange to visit a high-end beauty studio in a "container." But my priority was to create a space where clients would feel comfortable and relaxed. Today, I know it was the right decision—the concept is a huge success.
Your journey from healthcare and luxury cars to skincare expert is unique. What prompted the change?
I’ve always wanted to help people, but I realized that healthcare wasn’t the right path for me. Cars are my passion, and working in the industry gave me invaluable experience—I worked for BMW and later Ferrari. It was a prestigious and inspiring environment, but over time, I felt the need for change.
Then came burnout. I realized I wanted to create something of my own, something meaningful not just for me but for others. Skincare had always been my escape from everyday stress, and it naturally became the direction of my new career.
What makes Cosmedix stand out, and why did you choose to work with this brand?
Today, people are paying more attention to product ingredients and seeking gentler alternatives. In a sea of brands promising overnight miracles, Cosmedix is different. It doesn’t rely on aggressive ingredients but rather helps the skin function properly from within.
Its formulas respect the natural physiology of the skin, focusing on long-term health rather than immediate, short-term results. I’m fascinated by the purity of its ingredients and philosophy—rather than overloading the skin with chemicals, it guides it toward natural regeneration.
What key ingredients and technologies make Cosmedix unique?
Cosmedix utilizes patented LG-Retinex and AGP complexes that allow for gentle retinol processing, making them suitable even for sensitive skin. Another standout feature is liquid crystals, which mimic cellular membrane structures and help active ingredients penetrate deeply into the skin.
How often do you encounter clients with a damaged skin barrier? How do you restore their skin health?
Quite often. The most common culprits are improper cleansing, poorly chosen skincare routines, and excessive exfoliation. Many people use micellar waters and facial brushes that strip away the skin’s protective barrier.
Restoring the skin is a long-term process—it requires proper cleansing, client education, and professional treatments. We focus on hydration and regeneration using ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide.
You also offer men’s skincare treatments. How do men approach professional skincare?
Men are becoming more aware of the importance of skincare. Many of my clients hold high-profile positions where appearance plays a key role. They typically start with basic treatments focused on cleansing and hydration, but over time, they become open to additional steps such as serums and SPF.
Men have the advantage of naturally thicker skin with more collagen, which slows down the aging process. However, regular skincare is still essential for maintaining a healthy appearance.
How should we care for our skin after the winter months to speed up regeneration?
Winter is tough on the skin—cold air and dry indoor heating weaken its protective barrier. After winter, it’s essential to focus on hydration and regeneration. I recommend deep cleansing, hydrating masks, and antioxidants like vitamin C, which supports collagen production.
This is also the ideal time for intensive treatments like peels and retinol since the skin is less exposed to sunlight.
Can you introduce us to your Signature Slimming Body Treatment?
This treatment combines retinol, guasha massage, and vacuum therapy. It begins with an exfoliating peel that removes dead skin cells and preps the skin for active ingredients. This is followed by a draining massage with a retinol-based cream that boosts collagen production and firms the skin.
Guasha strokes and vacuum cups improve circulation and release muscle tension. This treatment is perfect for detoxification and firming the skin but is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Teenage Skin Reset focuses on youthful skin. What mistakes do young people often make in their skincare routine?
One major issue is the influence of social media and the use of harsh, unsuitable products that can damage the skin. Young people often neglect hydration and SPF, which are essential for maintaining skin health.
With this treatment, we focus on education, proper cleansing, and a personalized approach to ensure that young skin receives the care it truly needs.
What skincare trends fascinate you the most right now?
I’m particularly intrigued by Cosmedix’s metabolic peels, which accelerate cell metabolism and support skin regeneration. These peels use chirally correct ingredients, meaning they are in their most effective form while minimizing irritation.
Another exciting area is fascial massage, also known as sculptural massage. This technique releases tension in the fascia (connective tissue), helping to firm the skin and relieve facial muscle tension. It also improves blood circulation and stimulates the lymphatic system. These innovations are transforming professional skincare.
