MBPFW: Day 2
VAN GRAAF Junior Talent 2025
Four finalists of the upcoming edition of the VAN GRAAF Junior Talent competition, held as part of the spring edition of Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week FW 2025, presented four competing mini collections on Friday.
Tomáš Višňovský – student at UMPRUM, Studio of Fashion and Footwear Design
Winner of the VAN GRAAF Junior Talent 2025 competition
Tomáš Višňovský is a Slovak fashion designer and artist currently based in Prague. He is in the final stage of his bachelor’s studies at UMPRUM in the Studio of Fashion and Footwear Design. His work frequently revolves around the interpretation of personal muses, which is also the case in his showcased collection titled You’re the Only One Who Will Remember Me. The collection portrays the life story of a clothing thief, Marie Lávičková. The designs draw inspiration from themes of exhibitionism, kleptomania, streetwear, and the concept of clothing as a form of punishment.
Sofia Blahútová – student at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Studio of Fashion Design
Sofia Blahútová is a third-year student in the Studio of Fashion Design at Tomas Bata University. Her collection, titled Evening Mirror, is inspired by the dark atmosphere of Edgar Allan Poe’s renowned poem The Raven, blending gloom and poetry into a fashion expression.
Zuzana L’os-Božíková – student at UMPRUM, Studio of Fashion Design
Zuzana L’os-Božíková is a master’s student in the Studio of Fashion Design at UMPRUM. Her work focuses on combining traditional techniques with a contemporary approach, placing strong emphasis on detail, craftsmanship, and experimenting with volume in silhouettes. Her collection explores inner emotional experiences in relation to the awareness of the most distant horizon of our existence – death. Visually, the designer draws inspiration from the cyclical life of a flower as a metaphor for human existence.
Júlia Sadloňová – student at UMPRUM, Studio of Fashion and Footwear Design
Júlia Sadloňová, a graduate of the Studio of Fashion and Footwear Design at UMPRUM, places strong emphasis on working with materials – their creation, adaptation, and quality. She often involves her close friends and family in the creative process, viewing fashion as a means of building community. Her collection draws from imagery and objects of everyday life, translating visual citations and references from her surroundings quite literally into silhouettes and material surface treatments.
SURE CURATED by Alexander Bel
On Friday evening, Alexander Bel and his brand SURE CURATED transported us, if only for a moment, into a Berlin nightclub. The raw atmosphere of a late-night gay club was palpable in every corner of the space, with the audience on edge, anticipating each new look. A dance party finale, led by the designer himself, placed a symbolic crown on the entire presentation.
The new FW 2025 collection reflects an era of self-expression and the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights. It draws inspiration from spaces where different social layers intersect, merging into a unified whole. The result is a fusion of nostalgia with a subtly royal-punk aesthetic, pushing the boundaries of contemporary upcycled fashion. At the heart of the runway show remains the designer’s signature focus on tailoring - particularly the blazer - which, this season, takes on a raw new edge with frayed finishes.
